Brain Spill

It's been forever since I've just had a big spill of my brain about randomness in my life. Really I think it's been since our last move. :) So here it goes...
Last week was the same as the past 3 weeks- a game of "hurry up and wait".  Every Monday we start the week hopeful that THIS is the week we get finality on our housing situation.  However, every Friday seems to be the day of updates that really don't hold any information.  I had this cRaZy idea that once the inspection was over we would have 3 weeks of peaceful nothingness before closing.  Thanks to crazy appraisal lady & BofAm whackos my idea was dead wrong.  Funny thing is at the ending of each week we hope for a celebration weekend, and even though it hasn't happened I'm still way more calm on the weekend.  Maybe it's because Matt is home or maybe it's because I don't stalk my phone & email inbox for news as I know there will be no word on Sat. or Sun.
On the topic of weekends we have tried several churches.  They have been...OK.  Just NOT the "home" we felt in Derby or in Arizona. Boo.
People are nice here.  Maybe too nice.  As in so nice why-follow-the-rules-of-the-road if you see someone needing out in traffic.  More times than I can count people will stop in the middle of a road buzzing with traffic to let someone in. I don't mean everyone is stop and go, pause and let someone in.  I mean 45-55 mph road, come to a complete stop traffic piling up behind you to let me exit the parking lot I'm in.  It's CRAZY!  Now on the flip side I have never heard so much honking from drivers!  If you aren't out in the intersection 10 seconds before the light is green you best expect to hear honking behind you.  However on the other hand no one sees yellow down here.  That light means nothing.  And red...that really means let 4 more cars go.  The 5th car MIGHT stop. And then most times when you get a green you can't go b/c a bunch of cars piled up in the intersection trying to make it though the red light the other direction. It's madness! Of course Atlanta metro is 9th largest in the country, Phoenix 14th.  SO glad we went from Wichita to Phoenix to Atlanta.  If this had been our first move I would drive NOWHERE! Baby steps. :)
Aidan is excited to go see the "3 Dorks" movie coming out in April. (that would be the 3 Stooges to the rest of us) Thinking that will be what we do to make his birthday special with no little friends to invite over to a house we don't have yet! :) He is a typical little 4 yr old that loves to work poop, guts, or farts into any conversation. His favorite show on TV right now is America's Funniest Videos.  Kinda makes me wonder as a parent if it's good how much he loves to laugh at other's expense! :)
Emma is still Emma.  The other day we all sat in a parking lot while I composed an important email.  Kids were LESS than patient.  Aidan says "I'm hooooooot!"  Emma says "I'm staaaaaaaaaaaaaaarving" (REPEAT, REPEAT in unison, REPEAT louder).  Finally Emma says "Well Aidan I guess we're both a bunch of dreamers."  Apparently 5 minutes of their life spent waiting ruined the hopes and dreams they had set. :P  She has become "fluent" in finger snapping and head bobbing.  A skill learned from some friends at school.  She is also wondering where the place is that her friend was going to that "black people can go to, but she said it would cost me $1000. b/c I'm white".  She is fairly certain there must be a place white people can go that will cost her friend.  Oh dear.  Oh the stories. :)
We are embarking on "Operation No Pull ups" this week.  Isaac has done great potty training, but I've noticed in the last week he's been going in his pull ups more.  As much as I'd like this operation to occur once we have our own laundry facilities, I feel we can't wait.  And I like to create torture and more work for myself.
I'm kinda bummed right now that I'm missing the season finale of my zombie show.  Yes, never thought you'd hear that from me huh?!  One of the many shows Matt watches that I've resigned to following is The Walking Dead.  And bonus it's still on the air with no signs of cancelation like most of his crazy shows. But it is March, which happens to not be exciting just b/c it's my birthday.  I guess there's this thing going on with basketball or something.  So I've been promised that we will watch the game now, zombies online tomorrow and then more basketball on Tuesday. Yay!?
Our area is HUGE in spring little league baseball.  We had been warned that come March weekends in our hotel would be slam busy with teams.  Boy is that true! Our hotel and everywhere we went this weekend had team after team.  Not to say all teams are the same, but it was quite sad to see the team in our hotel this weekend.  I very much appeared the parents were using the trip to relive their party years on the pool patio while their children ran wild.  Screaming, running all over the hotel.  Blatantly ignoring signs about where minors are not allowed without adults.  I have fairly strong opinions about this issue anyway, and don't want to start a debate about it, AND fully support friends I know who do participate, but know it's not for our family.  I guess the main reasoning is the $CASH$ it takes to do it.  Wow.  Family of 5. 3 nights in a hotel, many meals out, gas to travel.  And that's just one tourney, one weekend. Not to mention fees for playing and these kids uniforms aren't just screen printed t-shirts.  One team we ate lunch "with" at Chili's had fully embroidered uniforms, all men had embroidered fitted hats, moms & granny had printed or embroidered shirts & visors.  All siblings had team attire.  Whew.  Man it would be cute for scrapbooking and the kids would love the travel, but it's a pace of life I cringe at. We're lucky to take a weekend trip away as a vacation each year.
Speaking of baseball there are some great parks in the area surrounding some of the ball fields.  The boys and I went out this week on search of some outdoor play since it was so nice.  Nice meaning no rain.  85 degrees that to me felt as bad or worse than 107 in AZ.  Saturday we took Emma and Matt to our favorite park we found.  It had a great play place, although Isaac would rather spend the entire time in a swing.  The park is set up like a village with replica buildings of old school, library, church, museum, etc. They also like the community garden that is in the beginning planting stages for the year.

Emma was intrigued with the war memorial b/c she is learning about that stuff in school.

The boys enjoyed seeing the full size train.

Now in case you couldn't see from the distance apparently if I want Aidan to look at the camera and the boys to pose perfectly still looking nice I need to do so from about 20 yards away?!?!

Sweet boys.
Wellp that's enough rambling.  Matt is starting to fill me in on the game that is beginning to look like we won't be watching a basket ball game on Tuesday after all....
