"End of Year" Pizza Party
We always conclude the school year with homemade pizza night. This year was a bit different since Aidan graduated earlier in the month and Emma didn't really finish school until her testing was done the first couple days of June. She's ready for 4th!!
VBS- We attended VBS at Aidan's PreK church. The kids LOVED it! Kingdom Rock had lots of knights & castle décor. The theme was Stand Strong!
Summer Fun Summary
The kids and I made another Summer Fun list for this year. We have already completed several, but in a bit of a panic that we may not get it all done with a 2 1/2 week vacation in the middle of the summer!
Lost of swimming happening at the neighborhood pool! We went to Fernbank Museum as a family before leaving on our KS trip.
This month made it to two of the $1 Summer movie club movies. The 3 Stooges and Mr. Popper's Penguins. (Plus saw Monster University and the new Despicable Me while in KS!)
Matt & I celebrated 13 years together and we were able to visit my Aunt Lisa who was in town on business.
KS Trip helped us knock several things off our Summer Fun list. Fireworks, parade, fair, snow cones, smores, looooong road trip & Camp Mimi.
First ever all kid Camp Mimi trip to explore the history & parks of Council Grove, KS. Aidan & Isaac ready to ride the Alligator Roller Coaster. Madison & Emma ready to catch candy.
New addition to the parade this year Army Corp Band. Luckily a safe parade for Isaac again this year. Not sure I'll ever enjoy a parade again. Even once the parade begins I fight urges to make my kids stand back on the sidewalk. A bit of fear in me & Isaac lingers thanks to two years ago. But still praise Him that my little guy is still with us...all bit it ornery!!
We had the pleasure of seeing my Grandpa Brennan. My mom & aunt left on Friday of fair days to take him to Nebraska for his 70th class reunion!!
The girls wanted to have a lemonade & craft stand and donate their proceeds to the Moore OK tornado victims. They raised $50!! Papa kept the boys busy out at the creek throwing rocks :)
While the crew was all together we did our annual Cousin pic for Mimi. The one of the left was the one we ordered. The right...well that was the photog letting the kids chose a prop. Not sure what Aidan thought he had??!! Isaac knew what he had- a fox butt. Laughter I tell ya. And tears.
It was super super FAB that my CFF (Cousin Friend Forever) spent the week with us in Melvern!! YAY!! So nice to spend time with her!!!
We ventured down to Atlanta, KS to Matt's family following the festivities in Melvern. Lots of cousin swims, fireworks & BBQ was to be had.
Dwain and Peggy did amazing hosting us considering when we showed up their kitchen looked kinda like this only the insulation wasn't up and the wiring wasn't done. Matt flew in before we arrived and got some done before I could get a BEFORE pic. This is close though...
And with some help from Matt & BIL Chris we left it like this:
Too bad the floor is covered. It's beautiful!
While in the SE KS area I was able to visit with 2 of my homies (homeschool buddies) on Sunday. Monday I visited Kristina & Jen two ESU buddies and the 2 finest teachers in the surrounding Wichita area!!
Tues we hung around and helped Peggy with the back porch. Wednesday we all went to Derby to have photos by my amazing friend Tamara. Can't wait to show those off!!! Thurs & Fri was spent doing all sorts of 4th prep & fun. Saturday after a cousin viewing of Despicable Me II we celebrated Grandma's birthday!
The next Monday we spent the day with the Koosers. How awesome the older two are baby sitting age to give Shonda & I uninterrupted lunch date!! Thanks girls!!
Tuesday I was scheduled to go to Wellington to see my friend Karra and have our kids play. We are working on an arranged marriage between Emma & her oldest son Brent. Plans changed however when her brother, a railroader, was involved in a serious accident. It soothed my heart to be near and able to go see her and hug her neck!!! She and her family would deeply appreciate prayers for her brother and the long road of recovery he will have in the coming days & months.
Fun was had by all. Each play date seemed to end like this. My boys who never nap took one most every day. Isaac took a 4 1/2 hour nap one day!!!!
That summarizes our June & first 10 days of July. How amazing that we only have about 2 weeks of summer left!! It goes SO fast! Two weeks at home, 2 week vaca, and 2 weeks recovery & prep!! Still have lots to cross off that Summer Fun list!! Best get busy!!
But before I go I leave you with pure cuteness. I think know I have the cutest almost 2 yr old nephew on either side of the Mississippi!! :)
