Emma is officially a Junior Girl Scout.  We happened upon a daytime homeschool group with some families we met at the American Girl Doll club and HOME of Fine Arts classes. How fortunate to find such an active troop! I had attended several informational meetings and sent many emails when we first moved here to find a troop with no luck.  We have our first field trip with them next month and Emma is super excited to start selling cookies!!!

Thursday the 21st Emma attending a cupcake decorating class at Hobby Lobby.  She was in her zone! She loves baking & decorating!!!  Here's a few shots of her designs:

She was most excited about learning how to make the fondant roses.  They also made a cookie & candy turkey that is ADORABLE!

Due to scheduling Emma's holiday guitar recital was held the week before Thanksgiving.  I posted the videos here.  Attending her HOME of Fine Arts classes this fall has been so awesome.  Such a great program!  However, I will enjoy the holiday break from the 8 am guitar class! :)

Aidan had an exciting month!!  To start he is now wheels off on his bike!  Isaac wanted his training wheels taken off which then prompted Aidan to give it a shot.  It was a bit early for Isaac, but within two days Aidan was peddling as if he had been doing it for weeks!  Aidan's more reserved than Isaac when it comes to adventure.  If I put Aidan on the two wheeled bike he was unsure and unsteady only wanting me to let go when he said he was ready.  Isaac would willingly mount the bike and want me to give him a push then scraping himself off the ground after an inevitable crash stating "I'm ok, I'm ok! Again!".

When beginning our school year I knew from researching curriculum that kindergarten with the publisher I chose would not last a full year and most likely be all review for Aidan, especially in Language Arts, but not so much in Math .  I suppose it could have lasted all year if I supplemented a ton and didn't school full days.  Or it might have taken longer if Aidan hadn't had such a good base from preschool. Knowing all his letters & sounds and able to write all the letters and quickly catching on to the new math skills introduced we were able to complete the Kindergarten curriculum the beginning of this month.  I had ordered the first unit of first grade to have on hand so we pulled it out and got started.  The first 6 lessons were "pre-reading" lessons meant to take 2 1/2 weeks to complete.  Well...he has flown through them!  We will finish them this week and will officially start the 1st grade material after Thanksgiving. As I look over the first several weeks there will be lots of review and while tempted to skip ahead I think we will complete each lesson to help stretch him to schooling a bit longer each day.

If nothing else I have discovered his love of reading and his handwriting has improved.  The writing on top was a few weeks into his Kinder work. (I had wrote in highlighter for him to trace in the first several lesson to help his form.)  The bottom was the last day of his Kinder curriculum.  This pic is more for me than to show all of you.  Proof that working with him pays off.  Proof that the days we engage as he fights tooth & nail to not do school- pays off.

Now none of this accounts for my rule following, schedule following & highly sequential personality!  It's kinda got me on edge to feel like we are going "out of order".  However, I couldn't justify supplementing tons of letter activities and BOB books the last 6 MONTHS of school!  So onward we go!

Time got away from me so we didn't get any turkey/fall crafts done before December 1st snuck up on us!!

Happy Fall Ya'll!  Or as the southerners seem to say- "Happy Thanks given!"
