Another Year In the Books

Fourth grade.  The first year Emma can officially say she had the same teacher the entire school year. From day one to last day she was stuck with me. (and FYI our moves never contributed to the fact that she didn't have a teacher the entire year...her 2nd grade year we did move mid school year which meant she had 3 teachers that year!!)

Hopefully she was pleased with her teacher. ;)  We had a great year of school. We were pleased with her curriculum overall.  We will make a few changes for the fall, but will be minor.  I feel so blessed to find a solid, reasonable curriculum that works for her so quickly in our HSing journey.

She still loves and will choose to do her math first hands down each day.  She enjoys pleasuring reading.  Spelling and writing are by far her least favorite.  Cursive writing has been a fail.  Not because of her necessarily, but we didn't make it a focus and it has been a PRIME example of once taught something inappropriately or incorrectly it's very hard to undo.

Emma's outside activities this year so she doesn't become a unsocialized weirdO homeschooler- HOME of Fine Arts classes Drama & Guitar, American Girl Doll Club, an active Junior Girl Scout, and Upward Cheerleading.

Hard to believe this fall will be her final year of Elementary school!

Aidan.  Oh, Aidan.  We started in August with Kindergarten Curriculum.  The majority was review of his previous year in preK.  Vowel sounds and some math concepts were skills that were mostly new to him.  The Kinder curriculum was complete by late Oct/early Nov.  So, we then rolled right into first grade curriculum.   At what is now traditionally the "end" of a school year he is partially through first grade. About half way through. We will take a bit of time off for our KS trip and will pick back up in July.

Shh.  Don't tell him it's summer!  We have really struggled with his attitude about school since our break in February.  Add in all the confusion and haphazard schedule with all my medical issues the last 3 1/2 months and it's been a struggle.  He knows the content.  Does well when his attitude is good.  So, we are going to trek along in July and add Isaac in to get him on a school schedule for preK.

Don't bother asking Aidan what grade he is in.  At church or when family asks he will say something to the effect of "I don't know I'm homeschooled." or "Ask my Mom." :)

Prayers that the boys and I can establish a good schedule in July, so when sissy gets back in August we can roll into the new school year where I am waaaay out numbered!!!!

We ended our school year with our traditional meal of homemade pizza.  Momma had a bit less help this year because we had two neighbor girls over and the boys disappeared. :) It was a busy time of prepping for our KS trip, so that's ok.
