May In Review

My favorite May activity in GA- a visit to Southern Belle Farms.  Fresh strawberries.  Nothing better. Oh, wait- yes...there is something better- the homemade strawberry ice cream at Mimi's snack stand on the farm.  To.die.for!

FYI bring enough kids you don't have to do any picking!!!

My favorite pic is the boys waving to the kids on their school field trip!

They LOVED watching this baby calf as the farmer lead the momma over to the pen.  It was running all around in circles SO excited to see momma (aka lunch) coming! :)

Shortly after our trip to the farm it was Mother's day.  We had the pleasure of Matt's mom joining us the day before Mother's day and staying for 9 days!  We spent her first day at a HUGE antique market so close to our house I can't believe we hadn't heard about it before!  I wish the trip could have been more of a vacation for her!  Two days after her arrival my dr discovered a large cyst on my left ovary which led to an operation later in the week.  So thankful she was here to help with the kids!  With her help I pulled off Aidan feeling special on his 7th birthday which happened while she was here!

Once I was feeling a wee bit better I took the opportunity before public schools were out to use a Groupon and take the kids to the Atlanta Children's Museum.  The driving was a bit much for me at that point in my recovery, but once there they ran themselves silly and it was an easy day for me.

It doesn't take long for Emma to whip up an organized game or activity to keep her brothers in line.  They had a ball in the factory/delivery truck/store set up.  We also took part in their science talk which taught them about sound waves, pitch, etc.

Speaking of sound- their newest exhibit was about sound and they had a sound chamber for the kids to get in and measure how loud they could be.  The results are staggering and explain exactly why I'm crazy. :) My kids registered a 112.

Now see on the chart below where 112 lands.  2.  Count them TWO dB below what OSHA determines to harmful after 15 minutes of exposure.  This explains a lot folks.  A LOT! Need I remind you I am with them far more than 15 minutes a day? Donations accepted for my future hearing aides.

Pretty sure Isaac would have a lot to learn on a dairy farm.  Like location location location!

The boys enjoyed dressing up as Lego Emmitt while Emma loved painting.

My dirt, sand and water loving child would have been perfectly content to play in the water "creek" area the entire time. Splash and play all day!

Unfortunately May did NOT see us end our school year.  A few more days of school will be necessary in June thanks to the craziness our schedule has been the past couple months thanks to mommy's health & surgeries.  But the kids are motivated to get done before our trip to KS and the opening of the neighborhood pool is a great motivator to get our work done!
