Our Week Recap ~ 8.18.14

The 2nd week of school felt a bit more frazzled than the first.  We had several afternoon activities that pulled us away from the house a couple afternoons meaning we had to fit more into our morning time.

I am simply amazed at how well Isaac has done in a regular school schedule with  expectations on work completion.  He always liked "playing" school last year, but when he had enough he ran off to play. I feared resistance this year when he decided he was done, but so far he has done great!  His favorite by far is cutting!  Once he finishes his work he keeps busy with Legos, Hot Wheels or learning apps on my phone while I work with the older two.

1. Isaac has always used his feet & toes like hands for strange things, but writing wasn't so successful . :)  2. Had to capture Emma working.  All smiles. Ha!  3. This week science had us studying cells, tissues and organs.  We noted the different shapes & structures of nerve, bone, white and red blood cells.  Can't wait to move through our Science Curriculum.  The kids are loving it so far!  YouTube has proved very helpful to find videos geared toward children for all the various subjects we will be covering for Science.  A rare moment of Emma and Aidan within arms reach of one another and not fighting.  At least I have photographic evidence! Hopefully in the coming weeks Aidan will hear the word tissue and NOT think we are talking about the Charmin variety.  Silly boy!

I've had some "homework" in our after school hours.  Here's a sneak peak:

Tuesday we had our first Girl Scouts meeting/playdate.  Kids played, moms planned.  We are so blessed to have found the troop we are in.  A great leader, awesome families and meets during the day!  Following our meeting Emma's had some exciting news...her  dream has come true....stay tuned to see the pair she chose.

Wednesday evening we met with our church small group for pizza to discuss what our group will look like when it starts for the fall.  The poor group has two new crazy leaders since the minister and his wife are moving on to start another group.  ;)  It will be our pleasure to lead a group that we have grown to love.  Attending church and following God are so much better when blessed with people to do life with.

Thursday we attended a Lego Club a local HS group hosts. We joined mainly for the boys, but I think Emma had a good time too.  Prior to the Lego time we had a Secret Servants initiation ceremony for a group of kids who vowed to show God's love by secretly serving others.  Each month they will receive a top secret mission to complete.  A kind gesture or act of service toward others.  The kids were so excited to open their first mission when we got home.  The following day Isaac still wanted to wear the Secret Servant "S" badge they decorated.

Lots of Lego lovers and just as many Secret Servants!

Friday took us to our 3rd week of our HOME of Fine Arts classes.  Isaac who was dreading any and all classes is LOVIN it!  In fact he had a massive goose-egg on his head before his tumbling class even began this week!  Crazy boy!

Emma is taking an art class. This week she worked on blending.  I love the piece she painted!

Following Friday classes we did our usual grocery shopping and then met up with Matt to go to Lowes to purchase stuff for his next project. :) Hehehe!

On to next week....a much MUCH slower week.  We are starting a big unit on Bones in Science with lots of fun planned! Can't wait!
