Week #3 Recap

The kids are loving science time!!! Finally, after finishing AIG God's Design for Life introduction material for the human body we started learning about our first body system- the Skeletal System.

This week their Papa had a knee replacement so that was a great example to talk about cartilage, joints and bones. :)  We discussed the importance of calcium for bones.  To test this we placed a bone in a glass of vinegar to see what happens when a bone is depleted of calcium.  They have been anxiously watching and checking it.

Aidan loves quoting the statistics he's learned- the human body has 206 bones and bones make 2 million blood cells a second!

They made Sandy the Skeleton and I traced their bodies on paper to use throughout our studies of the human body.  As we study each system we will add models and elements to their "body" to help us remember what is important about each system.

Isaac on the other hand has kept busy each day making a "pr-aft".  My favorite this week was his name with a speed boat pulling a skier and a glass of Fanta orange pop. ha!

He also got super creative with his Lego alligators.  Book work is not his favorite thing- especially handwriting, but so long as I text daddy a picture of his number writing he happily completes it!

Emma let her humor shine through in her Language Arts this week. :)  And I would say she mostly gets the concept of antonyms and synonyms!

Who would have thought a dog would be a school distraction?!?  As we sit on the floor each morning and map out our day Cracker insists on playing and running all over their books and papers.  Feisty 14 yr old dog when he wants to be!

We did take some time this week to swim before our pool closes.  Summer just went by waaay too quickly!  OR better yet the pool needs to stay open so long as it is 95+ degrees!  In an attempt to cool off we also completed the ALS ice bucket challenge.  The kids loved dumping water on themselves and each other!

On to the next, very short week!!
