So, I shall stop numbering our Recap week because I think I'm already "off" on my count. And then there's weeks like this past week where it's over and I wonder what we did all week?!?! Two doctor appts, Girl Scout meetings, guitar lessons, small group, Lego club and Friday Fine Arts classes. Blah! Then another week slips away with another doctor appt, dentist appt, guitar and prepping to leave for a trip out of state. We really did get some good school in....just either too busy to remember the photos or not photo worthy activities. :)
The only true educationally redeeming photo is of our cross section bone model. I made this to supplement our lessons on the skeletal system with AIG God's Design for Life- Human Body. It was a good visual for the different parts that make up a bone. Blood vessels, red bone marrow, yellow marrow, spongy bone compact bone and then the outer layers.
To make the model I found one of the many toilet paper rolls that seem to never make it into the trash, rather they congregate at the base of the TP holder. A strange occurrence in just our household I'm sure of it! Then I bought a blue scrubber/sponge, an interesting yellow sponge that had regular sponge material on one side and the "fluffy" looking yellow stuff on the other side. We have a great supply of good ole QT red straws and then found some red and blue string I had in my sewing stash. I did cut the TP tube as it's diameter was too big for the rolled up sponges. I used packing tape to secure it all together. A cost effective and colorful model the kids seemed to really understand.
I combined Isaac's love of his duplo blocks with his current lessons on numbers. He was less than enthusiastic about photos this day. Well ok then. Can't win 'em all.
The other two were all smiles. :)
It's been surprising to me how distracting Cracker can decide to be on any given school day. He is especially fond of Aidan.
He's also know to just stand on a book to gain attention. Rockie (RockChalk) Emma's new beta however is silent and non-disruptive. RIP Goldie the goldfish. (or RSVP as Emma almost put on his headstone she made. HA! She knew it started with an "R")
Isaac's shenanigans while we are working- measuring himself in markers and playing with his magnetics.
We also had our annual school pics taken. You can see those here.
And at just the right moment on a rough day of school you get a message like this from your child who isn't a real fan of school, but has seemed to turn a corner and have some really great days lately. Amen!
