On his birthday we attended our Homeschool Field Day and followed that up with supper at the location of his choice. Gagdonalds won out again this year. I shall never understand, but will celebrate greatly the year he out grows this annual selection. To slightly redeem the night we also had Cherry Berry another kid fav. That night he opened our gift- lego set from the new Avengers movie. He wanted the Stark Tower.
After several years of makeshift birthday parties Aidan was given the party that was long past due! Saturday with several of his best buddies we had a day of Minecraft fun!
He has such a great group of friends. I was unsure exactly what to expect with that many little boys gathered together. Dare I say it was more calm than some girly parties I've thrown??!!
Thank you Pinterest, my very experienced pinning daughter who has a future in party planning. Having never played Minecraft she was essential in helping me pull this off!
Ender portal, snacks from various items in the Minecraft Inventory. Licorice TNT bundles, carrots, Cocoa Krispie Coal, Rolo gold, pretzel sticks and rock candy for emeralds and diamonds.
To quench the gamers thirst we had Potion of Healing water and Lava punch.
With no help to Pinterest and from my own little nugget I made the "torch" silverware bundles, Endermen cups and our TNT coke & mentos explosions. Can be invigorating to come up with an idea NOT found on Pinterest!!
Thanks to my cake makin' friend Karra in Kansas for the cake idea. Boy was this easy!!! I have slaved over cakes in the past for birthdays. THIS was so simple!! And he knew it was a diamond sword so- SCORE!
Game director and party planning expert Emma assisted with pin the tail on the pixel pig. This was SO simple because we were very blessed that one of Aidan's friends had recently had a Minecraft birthday and his generous momma shared some of the party décor with me! Yay!
My super appreciative child ate up getting gifts from his friends!!! So thankful for each gift he received!
Craft time was paper lanterns with electronic tea light candles. They worked! Even Matt got crafty! We also attempted some Creeper perler bead key chains. Emma loved doing those!
The grand finale was the TNT each boy got to set off and then the big one Matt did. They all had fun watching & attempting to lick!
Saved the big one for last!!
And video for those interested...and don't worry we are working on counting in school. ;) 5, 2, 1....
