The long awaited move in day finally happened. May 3rd to be exact. We moved in with a lease agreement from the owners anticipating the closing of the home, but not 100% certain as the bank was moving toward foreclosure. Risky on our part, but it was against the moving relocation company's policy to deliver to a storage unit. So this gave us a place to unload and then WORST case scenario repack to storage ourselves.
We spent a week or more cleaning and cleaning and cleaning some more. We even gambled further and did some painting upstairs and had the carpets cleaned.
The kids were great "help" during those days of cleaning.
Like sitting in buckets or dressing as if they are helping.
And taking self portraits with sponges?!?!
Very essential parts of the home clean and prep process.
Unload day Matt had to keep inventory of each and every item/box the movers brought in. Each mover would yell out a number & color tag as they carried an item through the garage. It was madness!!! Our items were loaded in AZ, delivered to a warehouse in GA, unloaded, inventoried and then reloaded into crates. Once we were ready for delivery they loaded the wooden crates into the semi. Luckily our precious item wasn't lost in the inventory process and still had his barcode on.
We were so spoiled our first move from KS to AZ to have the same loaders, drivers & unload crew. They gave our kids a children's moving packet with matchbox semi that was identical to the semi they drove, coloring book, etc. They let Aidan sit in the truck and blow the horn. So he expected that from this driver too! :) He was nice enough to let him. :)
Then the real process begins. Boxes upon boxes. Stacked to the ceiling in some rooms.
The kids "helped" unpack too. Discovering toys they hadn't seen in months! And yes, their room looked like this for longer than I'd like to admit b/c mommy was over her head in unpacking! They also "helped" by dangerously climbing on the highest box they could find and howl like coyotes?!
Eventually the stack of empty, broken down & paper stuffed boxes grew. Waaay higher than the front door in the 2 story entry. Still a long ways to go before it's "done", but so glad to have a home!!!
