About 9 am Monday June 18th the kids and I, along with Cracker, took off toward Kansas. Traveling went great and we tried something new stopping at state rest stops rather than gas stations in town. It had two bonuses. #1 Easier to potty Cracker & #2 no candy displays or pop fountains to tempt me or create begging it the kids. :)
This pic snapped just inside the Mississippi line is one of my favorite candid pics recently. I find it so cute how, without me positioning them, they lined up and look like "stair stepped" in height. :)
We pulled into Fort Smith Arkansas about 9 pm. I debated going on the last 4-5 hours and just crash at Gma & Papas late, but decided since we had free hotel points to stop. It was a good thing b/c once we ate, took a quick swim and tucked into hotel bed to watch movies I dozed off and woke up in a jerked panic worried I had fallen asleep at the wheel!!!
Took off the next morning with our goal of arriving in Wellington KS mid afternoon. We stopped an visited and had dinner with my friend Karra & her family. The kids had fun playing...I only wish they had warmed up to all the outside animals earlier than our walk to the van to leave. Horses, ducks, chickens, kittens, cats, & dogs to name a few. :)

Here they all are. We were nice friends and took turns having babies. :) Her oldest Brent, then his arranged future wife Emma, Mikey, Aidan, Zack Zack & Isaac. Ranging from going into 5th grade down to almost 3 yrs old. Always a fun time...although we get a few eye-rolls from the only girl. :)
We left Karra's Tuesday night headed for Gma & Papa's house. A quick nights sleep and off to Derby for FCC VBS and picking up Emma's BFF Avery. They are so cute! They hadn't seen each other since we left Derby in July '10. They were a bit shy at first and then warmed right up like they had only been apart 2 days!!
Sky VBS was a blast!! I helped in the snack room where I have served in previous years. Their snacks are amazing. It's not your store bought crummy cookie here!! Jumped right in like we had never been gone. I miss so many friends there. Speaking of friend, my friend Shonda is the children's minister and the VBS extraordinaire. We had lunch with her and her girls, my kiddos and my friend Tamara and her 2 girls. After lunch we hung out at Shonda's office and just visited while the 8 kids played.
Thursday after VBS we went a bit west of Wichita to meet with my scrappin college buddies. We had a wonderful lunch and all 6 of our kiddos played SO well the whole time! Here's the thing...they are my scrappin friends...well guess what we forgot to do?!?! We didn't take one.single.picture!!!!!! AAHHH!!! So bummed!!
Friday after VBS we had a quick visit with my friend Amanda and her two boys at a park in Derby. So nice to catch up with her. Miss the chats she and I used to have. I slacked again on the whole picture taking thing. :(
I had hoped to meet up with some of my daycare kiddos from the past, but it just didn't work out with everyone's schedules and I was a bit guilty of trying to pack too much into too few of days. We also enjoyed dinner one evening with Matt's little sister & her fam. Their children Libby and Max are so fun to play with!
