The kids and I pulled out early Tuesday October 15th for a trip back to KS for my brothers wedding. We hit the hills/mountains of North Georgia & Tennessee upon day break. The fall colors of TN did NOT disappoint!
We crossed many big rivers with interesting bridges. The kids would see the buoys in the water and thought they were submarines!!
St. Louis also had beautiful sites full of color to drive by.
With numerous bathroom stops along the way, in restrooms & along side the road, only getting out to eat one meal (breakfast) we finally arrived 16 1/2 hours after our departure time. The kids did SO well as they usually do on a long trip. Ten minutes to our local Wal-mart, forget about it. Sixteen hours- great! Isaac did struggle the last 30 minutes b/c he was done hearing "we're almost there" and he really thought he couldn't wait to get some chocolate milk so he could sleep! By that point mommy was done too, so it wasn't the prettiest portion of the drive! :)
Wednesday we were able to hang out with my sister who had taken the day off. Emma & I had lunch with my niece Madison at her school. My sister had us for dinner at her house that evening.
Thursday was the beginning of wedding prep. Ignoring all child labor laws we helped set up the reception hall.
Matt flew into Tulsa via QT air Thursday evening, but due to a southern KS dust storm had to detour his route taking even longer to get to us.
Friday we helped my brother do some last minute shopping & helped him wrap his groomsmen gifts. It was also the rehearsal at the Hays House in Council Grove, KS. My parents reserved the cellar/basement of the historic restaurant. It was a yummy dinner & great chance to see & visit with friends & family.
Cousins had a great time together. Fashion Diva girls.
Silly cool whip eating boys. :)
Driving home that night the realization hits that this is REALLY happening!!!!! Yay!
