Home Tour ~ Master Bath

This was the Before BEFORE pictures of our Master Bath.  These were taken the day we toured the house while house hunting.

We did away with the carpet scrap rugs.  Repainted the walls a slightly darker color that was a more washable finish.  I repainted all the trim and we repainted the entire vanity, drawers & doors. We also updated the obnoxious pulls that are on every.single cabinet in this entire house that happen to be the ugliest pulls you can buy in the entire Lowes hardware department.

AFTER PICS

Looking in- long row of vanity & double sinks to the right ending with throne room.  On the left is bath tub, shower then as seen in this photo on left is our closet doorway.  Close up of Matt's vanity with new knobs & pulls.

Two shots from our closet door.  Back toward our room and then my vanity.

I'm not much for sitting to get ready, but maybe someday.  Nice vaulted ceilings and lots of light.

To the left of my vanity is the potty room- if you can even call it a room. We enjoyed the concept of a throne room in AZ and makes a master bath more usable for two people to utilize at the same time- at least for us!! :) This one is so incredibly small we took the door off to make the space bigger. Plus thanks to my FIL our new toilet is actually set on the floor rather than jacked up on spacers like when we moved in!!

Not much to say about the shower. We did have to purchase a new shower door b/c the previous owners took the good one out and installed a broken one from the home they were buying. We prefer glass shower doors that are actually connected at two points rather than one preventing shattered glass. Call us crazy.

The tub is to the left of the shower & on your left as you enter the bathroom. It's Isaac's favorite hang out & usually littered with his bath toys. I still need to do a window treatment there.

To the right of the shower is our closet door. This is our 3rd house with the master closet in the master bath and I have always enjoyed that feature. This closet is HUGE. It's literally as big or bigger than most bathrooms. It's an "L" shape that wraps around the other side of the throne room. It has a window that provides great light. Plenty big enough for an ironing board to be set up if needed.

Then the biggest change that was the biggest improvement (yet not too noticeable in pics) and made the bathroom sooo less nasty looking was the floor!  The inspector guessed with the condition of the floor and the fact the toilet was "jacked up" on blocks/spacers that there had perhaps been water damage thus they replaced the floor themselves.  As my father in law said Isaac could have laid floor as well or better than this tile.  We toyed with the idea of ripping it out and retiling it. (And putting in new vanities, and/or new mirrors, etc, etc) But, we ended up already having to fork over more for the house than it was worth according to the bank...so we had to determine what more we wanted to sink into a home we don't plan to live in forever....SO plan B. My father in law to the rescue!

He very very graciously spent two days using his new tool to grind out all the nasty Oklahoma dirt colored and poorly installed "groutish" substance.  Every single grout line grinded clean. Matt later reapplied new grout which helped, but then there was still residue of the original grout-like substance left all over on the tile themselves.  So...using a flat head screw driver and several hours I scraped each and every tile to remove the grout smeared on the tiles, walls, & baseboards. Here are the results-

Their previous messy grout job with the grinding & regrouting of the floor took it's toll on the base boards too.  So when repainting the vanity I also repainted the trim beneath the vanity connecting to the floor.

Much better...or maybe it's just a cleaner feeling.  Which is good in a bathroom! :)
